When an Unstoppable Force meets an Immovable Object.

We're used to seeing evil as conscious, as thoughtful ~~

"Here's the bad guy with his diabolical master plan that he thought thorugh.."

thought through enough so he knew all the reasons it was wrong, considered them and at the end of the day - just didn't care.

But..

But that's not how evil looks like.
See, evil doesn't think, it just acts..

the bad guys don't weigh pros and cons, or make excuses to their conscience..

they just do what they wanna do..

they just act..

on instinct..

Someone: Hafiz, you look like you don't fear anything.

Hafiz: I do? Well, isn't that good? I can go about unchallenged, nothing to stop me. Nothing to hold me back. Fearless. I can do almost everything.

Someone: On the contrary boy, If you fear nothing, then you love nothing; if you love nothing, what joy is there in life?

so i said in my previous post that this entry was gonna be something..

here's the something.

i really do not know how to start this.

hmm. the something is about coaching and teaching.

I'm gonna talk about coaching and teaching in general and my views and opinion of it. Coaching is mainly used in a sports concept. So in my case, the sport would be archery. I'll include some references from soccer, the other sport which i also feel most passionate about. All in all, no matter what sport, one thing keeps all these in common - sportsmanship and the campaign towards achievement.

Coaching, unlike teaching, is a two-way process. The coach provides the athlete with the benefit of his or her knowledge and experience. The athlete then takes as much or as little of that information to use in their training. There are different levels of coaching from group coaching where the general aim is consistent to one-to-one coaching where the aim is specific to that individual.

A difference between teaching and coaching is that with coaching there is often less focus on the acquisition of skills than in the improvement of existing skills and also fitness. It is about getting the full potential from the athlete in their chosen sport through the application of knowledge and a two-way communication process.

The differences between teaching and coaching occur mainly in the depth of knowledge transfer and the focus of that transfer.

i've mentioned many times in this blog how i've come to enjoy coaching.

Let's go down to my coaching style. It's rather simple. For me to invest my time in a student, i expect the same commitment in return. If the student wants to improve, then the student should make an effort to come down for most, if not all, of the training. Given the commitment, i'll give mine. No doubt my coaching style has brought about good archers. Nadiah still remains as my best achievement. Look at April now, i coached her from the beginning. She became one of the better year 1s.

My approach is that of a friend. Never scolding. Never strict. Just firm. Understanding the limitations of my students. Constantly educating them with what i know. Never selfish in imparting the knowledge that i have. Always ensuring that my students understand how things work in archery. It's like deriving a formula. If you don't understand how a formula is formed, you do not know when to use it. Same principle here, i coach in ways that my students can understand so that they know that whay they're doing is right or wrong.

There are instances when others come and teach my students. I do mind. I admit about that. But i hold myself back. For if the student thinks that these others can impart a knowledge better then i am. then by all means follow them. I leave that decision to the student him/herself. That leaves me with time for me to spend on my own shooting.

But wat pisses me off the most is that when these others who have taken away people who i coached before and then just leave an archer there in confusion when they can't think of a probable solution to what the archer is facing. They just leave them there in the dark. And that's what i don't like. In the past i would go "ahh.. eF it.." and would go over to help the archer.

But not anymore, i've come to realise how stupid i was in coaching people whom i would reap no benefit for myself. The club has a coach now. Go ask the coach for help. I'm not winning any medals coaching.

It's the anger talking. The transition phase that i'm going thru from becoming an uncertified coach to an archer.

It's hard to let go of coaching. I love it so much. But i have to realise that coaching comes at an expense of my own shooting and it has been doing that for a long time. Now it's time to step up my game as an archer.

Coach Jaffar saw potential in me. And i kinda let him down by not progressing with my shooting. I chose coaching instead. I see a wavering faith that he has in me. But i'm going to rekindle it now.

Coaching has imparted in me many desirable traits. Confidence, patience, perseverance and much more. But i have to leave coaching now.

But. I still can be approached if questions need answering. But if you conflict in what i believe in. Then don't expect a reply.

Let the coaches coach and the archers.. erm.. arch..? LOL

Ouch.. and the sniffles..

Met up with the supplier. That didn't help much at all. He just gave us the catalogue which weighs like 3kg and then just sat there. Bleargh. Have to compile the equipment list on our own.

Went to sentosa on thursday for class outing. Never been there in say.. 5 years..? Hah. yeah. Long time. Much has changed over there. Back when i went there. It was all under construction. Now, slight parts of construction, but looks much better now. Went to Siloso beach. Saw SOMEONE there. hhhuurrrr.. Oh well. Played volleyball. This is where the first ouch happened.
Ball in air > hafiz attempts to set it up > ball smashes into hafiz's thumb > OUCH.
Still could play though. damn funny. played frisbee instead. Had a dip in the water. the undercurrents were damn cooling. buried andy in the sand. lol. damn funny. wat was funnier was the guys' attempt to interupt the running route of a hot bikini babe who was running along the entire beachline of siloso beach back and forth. She was hot. really. lol. one to drool over. at the day's end. we went back to vivo. ate at kfc. did window shopping then went home.

Saturday was pesta sukan. Terrible terrible competition. serious lack of manpower and organisation. the scorching sun and slow novice round wasn't making things any better. really damn slow. wat ticked me off at the start was the commencement of equipment inspection when the registration wasn't even completed yet. and the judge running the novice category thinks he knows best of everything. such a disgrace. even shawn from NP agreed with me. Pesta was a whole screw-up.

went out with my extended family on sunday. went to terminal 3. big big place. the viewing mall is the best of the airport. good place to bring the girlfriend IMO. went home. got my stuff ready. went to commonwealth to meet 3MC to play soccer. had a really really good time. and also where the second and third ouch happened. the second ouch happened due to accumilation of too quick footwork for my worn out shoes to handle. there was no more cushioning for my left foot and my toe (the one next to the smallest toe) was bruised due to insufficient cushioning. damn pain ah.

The third ouch came from me being too competitive an running quickly back to block a shot. again. it happened on my left foot. sprained my ankle there. just a minor strain. but still enough to make me spend a couple of minutes leaning against the wall trying to suppress the pain of it. damn pain. still continued to play though.XD.

election for the new P and VP: Schaz got the president post, as i expected. Gerald (year 1) got the VP post. Two playful individuals. wonder how the club will be run. would be an 'interesting' one year. looking forward to see new main committee. and of course. to my stepping down.

Some bugger spread the flu bug on tuesday. Spreaded to me and woei perng. and then to jason via me. coz i spent the rest of the afternoon with him playing pool. so now i haz it. the flu.

that's all for now. i know the next post is gonna be something.

i wants cheezburgers.
